The University
Since its founding, Universitas Mercatorum – University founded by the Chambers of Commerce – has been committed to offering female students, scholars and researchers the best opportunities for study and research, guiding talents toward ambitious goals both educationally and professionally. Our Athenaeum aims to continuously improve research, teaching and knowledge transfer, benefiting society locally, nationally and internationally.
Universitas Mercatorum draws inspiration from the historical Universitas Mercatorum, forerunners of today’s Chambers of Commerce. It positions itself as a university created by businesses for businesses, focused on enhancing human capital. Its innovative model combines digital education, academic excellence and close cooperation with the world of work.
The University supports Italy’s economic, social and cultural development through education, research and knowledge dissemination. It promotes technological and social innovation by offering accessible, high-quality and professionally relevant learning pathways. Research activities connect universities, businesses and public institutions according to the Triple Helix model.
Its core values include student centrality, merit, research ethics, inclusion, human dignity and freedom of thought. Internationalisation, educational innovation, quality assurance and engagement with local communities are strategic priorities. The University also contributes to sustainable development in line with Agenda 2030, EU cohesion policies and the PNRR. Its vision is to democratise knowledge and build an open, inclusive and internationally oriented academic community.
