G. Tanner Jackson, Educational Testing Service, USA
G. Tanner Jackson is a Managing Research Scientist in the Cognitive Science division at Educational Testing Service (ETS). Prior to ETS, he received his Ph.D. (2007) and completed a postdoctoral fellowship (2008-2011) at the University of Memphis before joining Arizona State University as an Assistant Research Professor (2011-2013). Throughout his career Tanner has focused his research on adaptive and engaging educational environments that involve elements of game design and natural language processing components. He has continued that work at ETS where he is involved with developing and evaluating innovative assessments and student process data. His primary ETS projects center around conversation-based formative assessments as well as game-based assessments (working in collaboration with American University’s Game Lab). Additionally, Dr. Jackson is interested in how users interact with complex systems and he leverages these environments to examine and interpret user interactions over time within and across educational systems.
